The path will lead us under waterfalls and through tunnels, so a flashlight is mandatory. Afternoon swimming at Ribeira Brava resort (wild river). Return to Funchal. Overnight stay.
Driving time: 2 hours

Breakfast. A day to explore the western part of the island. Today, the levadas on Madeira form a network of water channels approx. 1400 km long, and we will also walk through the autochthonous Laurissilva growth. Following the panoramic route, we will descend to the resort of Porto Muniz on the north coast of the island, where there will be time to swim in the natural lava pools, visit the aquarium, have a snack, drink or take a walk. On the way, we will also stop at a traditional Madeiran bar, where we will be served the local drink 'poncha'. Return to Funchal. Overnight stay.
Driving time: 2 hours
Hiking duration: 2-3 hours
Breakfast. From the Paul de Serra plateau, we will go to one of the most popular levadas, namely the levada of 25 springs. Are we really going to count 25? This is followed by a visit to the Risco waterfall 100 m. Return via the hamlet of Rabacal, where you can have refreshments. We will also hike through a longer tunnel, so a flashlight will be desirable. Since Madeira is (was) an island of sugar cane, we cannot do without a tour of the rum distillery, followed by a tasting. Return to Funchal. Overnight stay.

Accommodation
During the trekking on Madeira (Island of Portugal), you are accommodated in a 3*** star hotel in Funchal city – the capital city of the archipelago – in double or twin rooms.
A single-room supplement is not obligatory unless you want a room for yourself; otherwise, we find you a same-sex roommate. Triple rooms are possible to arrange on request. We stay the whole duration of the tour in the same hotel, so you can skip a day if you want.
Transportation
Our Izimanija team member or driver will wait for you outside Madeira International Airport (Cristiano Ronaldo Airport) and take you to the accommodation in Funchal city. All land transports within the program are already included in the price. For smaller groups, we use taxis/cars/vans and for bigger groups minibuses/buses, private.
Food and drinks
Our hotel serves delicious food. Both breakfast and dinner are served at the hotel, to be sure you get enough energy for everyday walking. For hikes by day, you can buy some things you like at the nearby supermarket or enjoy snacks in local cafes where available.
Health and Safety
You need to have your health insurance that covers trekking with you. Some sections are far from the closest roads, so eventual rescuing is not an easy job. Please consult with your doctor before coming.
Madeira (Portuguese island) is generally a safe destination and the local people we work with are very trustworthy.
